About OhMantra.com

ohmantra.com

Sacred words. Timeless wisdom. One place to explore them.

OhMantra is a non-profit project dedicated to preserving, explaining and sharing the world's sacred mantras, prayers, chants and spiritual sound traditions in a way that is simple, respectful and accessible to everyone.

Across cultures and centuries, people have used sacred sound to pray, meditate, remember, surrender, heal, awaken, celebrate and connect with something greater than themselves.

OhMantra exists to help people discover that wisdom.

Our goal is to build the deepest and most trusted online collection of sacred mantras and spiritual chants — not only from Hindu and Buddhist traditions, but from spiritual and religious traditions around the world.

Our standard

For each mantra, prayer or chant

  • The original sacred text

Presented in its own script, as it has been preserved.

  • Transliteration & pronunciation

So the sound can be approached with confidence.

  • A clear translation

Plain, honest language — with what is lost noted.

  • Deeper spiritual meaning

The layers beneath the literal words.

  • Historical & religious context

Where it comes from, and who has carried it.

  • Guidance for practice

How the chant is traditionally approached.

  • Traditional intention

What practitioners have turned to it for.

  • Ways to listen

    Carefully selected recordings and renditions.

We believe sacred texts deserve more than a quick translation. They deserve context, respect and depth.

Scope

Beyond one tradition

The word mantra comes from the spiritual traditions of India, and we use it with respect for that origin. But the human practice of repeating sacred words is much broader.

  • Hindu mantra
  • Buddhist chanting
  • Jewish prayer
  • Sikh Naam Simran
  • Christian contemplative prayer
  • Sufi dhikr
  • Sacred songs & invocations from many other traditions

The language changes. The theology changes. The practice changes.

Yet throughout human history, sacred sound has remained one of the most direct ways people have turned inward — and upward.

OhMantra celebrates both the differences and the shared human search behind them.

Our approach

Ancient wisdom, made accessible

Sacred traditions can sometimes feel difficult to approach: ancient languages, complex translations, different interpretations, centuries of commentary.

Our role is not to simplify these traditions until their depth disappears. It is to make that depth easier to enter — explaining each practice clearly while preserving its cultural, historical and spiritual context.

  • When interpretations vary, we say so.
  • When something belongs to tradition rather than science, we distinguish between them.
  • When a translation cannot fully capture the original meaning, we try to explain what is lost.

Respect comes before certainty.

Our reason

Why OhMantra exists

There are thousands of websites containing individual mantras, prayers and translations. But sacred wisdom is often fragmented across religious sites, academic texts, videos, music platforms and personal blogs.

We wanted to create something different: one beautiful, living library of sacred sound.

A place where someone can arrive knowing nothing, discover a mantra that speaks to them, understand where it comes from, learn what it means — and experience the practice for themselves.

Whether you come here seeking peace, devotion, compassion, courage, wisdom, healing, gratitude, spiritual curiosity or simply a moment of stillness, we hope OhMantra gives you a meaningful place to begin.

Who we are

A non-profit project by simply.vision

simply.vision

The good side of AI

simply.vision explores how artificial intelligence can be used to create things that are genuinely useful, meaningful and positive for people. OhMantra is created and operated as a non-profit project, and is part of that mission.

AI helps us organize information, improve accessibility, connect ideas and make ancient teachings easier to explore — but technology is only the tool.

The wisdom belongs to the traditions, teachers, texts and generations of practitioners who preserved it long before us. Our responsibility is to treat that wisdom with care.

What guides us

Our principles

  1. 01

    Respect every tradition.

Sacred teachings should be represented within their own historical and spiritual context.

  2. 02

    Make wisdom accessible.

Complexity should never become an unnecessary barrier to discovery.

  3. 03

    Go deeper than translation.

Words matter, but so do practice, intention, history and meaning.

  4. 04

    Be transparent.

We distinguish scholarship, scientific research, traditional belief and spiritual interpretation.

  5. 05

    Keep learning.

OhMantra is a living project. We expect it to grow, improve and be corrected as we learn from practitioners and experts.

  6. 06

    Keep access open.

Sacred wisdom should be available to anyone who genuinely wishes to explore it.

What's next

This is only the beginning

OhMantra is continuously growing.

New mantras. New prayers. New traditions. New translations. New explanations. New ways to listen, learn and practice.

Our ambition is simple, even if the project is large:

to build the world's most meaningful online home for sacred sound.
